Attacking powers of Guard and Bishop

Today we study an attacking endgame problem with Cannon and Knight versus a single Rook mainly, the problem was by Qi Tan Lao Ren, Old Man of the Xiangqi Altar.

Beginners generally tend to think that Guards and Bishops are just defensive pieces, but they are not! This puzzle shows their attacking powers :











In the end, the most the Rook can do is Rook takes Guard, but that cannot stop Red giving checkmate with a Cannon behind the Knight classic finish.
