Introducing an intriguing piece in Xiangqi

Today we shall play with the Cannon, a very intriguing piece in Xiangqi, there is no equivalent in the western version of Chess.

For the beginners, the Cannon moves like a Rook, but captures by jumping over a piece. Or imagine the Cannon attacks the piece which is behind another piece.











Basic comments:

1. C9=6 check
C1=4 blocking the check

2. K5+1 the King comes forward to attack the Cannon
C4+1 Cannon moves a step forward

3. K5=6 the King attacks the Cannon once again
C4=1

4. C6+1 Cannon attacks Cannon with help of another Cannon !
C1-2

5. K6=5 King in action again
C1=4 the only move

6. C4-1 preparing yet another attack
K4-1 the King tries to escape, but really too late now

7. C4=6 winning the Cannon next move
